Cutting edge vintage...
What could be better than pearls, seahorses, and a pocket knife? Susan started the ball rolling with a cool knife she found that is embellished with a mermaid. I found these amazing little pink vintage knives, so we played with incorporating them in our new line today. Literally edgy, am I right?
More time travel...
I decided this necklace needed a bit of bling so I added a strand of rhinestones. Love juxtaposing unlikely elements, a little industrial plus a little ooh-la-la.
Maybe I was inspired by the piece my friend Susan put together for me to wear to the Miche conference roaring 20's night. I couldn't wait to go back it time and wore it yesterday!
Vintage measuring tape or time machine?
I finally got into my studio to work with my vintage treasures and new glass tablets I made. This one has a spiral of iridescent ambers with a hint of purple encased in crystal clear glass. The 32 inch chain is treated with a flame patina that mirrors the colors in the glass perfectly. I attached an old brass measuring tape that works! Looks kind of like a fishing reel...or a monocle...or a telescope... or a time machine.
The latest addition to Dale Wayne design...
I put together sets of the seahorses I hung on my chandelier for a local shop to try out. Fun, fun, fun!
Gena's party is tonight! What's a base bag to wear?
Marianne is picking up Margo to go to the party and as usual Margo isn't ready. Marianne helps her chose what to wear and thankfully it only takes Margo two seconds to get dressed and they're out the door. Margo is bringing a bottle of wine. Marianne is bringing her laptop, because she can.
The kids are having a sleep-over, all tucked in, yawning and drifting off. Kiki snores.
Here is what everyone wore to the party:
Margo chose the Cindy shell she got at the last party. She loves that it is neutral with the sweet ruffle, but has a hint of metallic that makes Margo feel edgy.
Veronica chose the Hope shell. She loves the encouraging words of cancer survirors and is impressed with how much money Miche has raised for cancer research through the Hope collection.
Debbie Demi is feeling tres Luxe in her Baden. She doesn't mean to be a show off. She'll tell everyone that is comes with the fancy long handle and besides, she got it for half price since she hosted a party. That
Marianne! She always goes for the hottest looks, so she wore the oh-so-patriotic Americana with the interchangeable scarf.
Tomorrow Margo, Veronica, Marianne, and Debbie faint when they hear about the July sale...
Picking up the kids...
Margo and Veronica run into Debbie Demi picking the kids up from summer camp. Mini-Margo, Kiki, and Karen are such chatterboxes, all excited for Gena's party Saturday night.
They love their hipster babysitters Darcy and Porscha who are always on the go and full of surprises. Tomorrow is the big night, 7 pm, wine, snacks, prizes and purses! Veronica, Margo, and Debbie need to figure out what to wear! To be continued...
My own Miche ad campaign!
I'm coming up with my own zero budget ad campaign. (I think I've been watching too many episodes of Mad Men.) A friend is hosting a purse party on Saturday and her friends are particularly interested in the Margo cover for the petite bag. I started with Margo thanking them for inviting her. Then Margo shows off the purse charm she made.
Today, Margo slips into her denim Hope outfit. She likes the inspiring words and is happy that the design helps fund cancer research.
Today, I want to introduce the next size of base purses so the petite (Margo/Hope) is going to meet the classic size purse (they hate to be called handbags) in a Veronica cover for coffee.
There are 2 more sizes to bring into my story. To be continued... (spoiler alert: they are going to all go to my friend's party to meet everyone in purse-on.)
Purse party preview....
I picked up these little Altoid tins (or if you prefer: Smaltoids.) They are so irresistible I turned them into party favors for my upcoming MYSTERY HOSTESS PARTY . Hope you can come. I'm making Dale Wayne purse charms for everyone so be sure to RSVP.
Sneak a peek at our prototypes...
More vintage finds! Susan Meyer and I are partnering to create this new look and I'm loving it. I was rockin' the little pocketknife/ locket number today feeling pretty spiffy.
You can now find Dale Wayne Designs at Sunshine Herb Corner in Colorado. (Part of their colleciton in photo on right.) I'm amazed and excited that in such a short time I am in seven, soon to be eight retail venues in three states.
Flea market finds!
My friend Susan Meyer and I took a day trip to the flea market in search of interesting bling. At the end of the day when everyone was packing up their goods, Susan stumbled upon these cool vintage swimming medals. Below are the necklaces she designed when we got back to my studio. We are moving fast toward a collaborative line!
In summer, time takes a rest too, let's party!
I finally organized myself for a fun cocktail party: Mystery Hostess! You get 10 tickets for coming, 10 tickets for every guest you bring, and ten tickets for every $50 you spend. At the end of the party I draw tickets for prizes, the grand prize being the hostess rewards for my party. Until July 14th Miche is giving away double rewards, so with the average party of $600, your ticket could be worth $200 in purse products and 6 items half-off! Miche bags are such a good value, that king of winner's purse would send you home with quite a stash. Hope you can come... I've got John lined up for his famous Pomegranate Martinis! (RSVP for a free Dale Wayne gift.)
Come incognito and I'll give you 10 extra tickets!
New for June...Vive la France!
Here are two of the new June Miche covers. The denim cover with the bow fits the demi base bag and the one in the foreground fits the classic. I love the Provencal looking yellow scarf that comes with the bag, giving you the option of changing the bow. Natalie said that makes it a bag you can change that you can change. You'll be ready for a star spangled 4th of July, or France's Independence day (Bastille Day) on July 14th. Rock that red white and blue or take yourself to the south of France with the gold and navy, but be sure to slip on those espadrilles, Mademoiselle. The new shells are selling out quickly, so you might want to snag one on my Miche page ASAP or should I say "Tout de suite?" This collection is called Americanna (zut!) and it is available in the petite and prima sizes.
In the summer everything slows. Days are longer, friends linger, and no one is in a hurry, making it a perfect time to break out the lawn chairs and champagne and have yourself a purse party! June - July 14th (do I hear La Marseillaise?) Miche is offering double hostess rewards, twice the free stuff and twice the half off shells for hostesses, and mystery gifts for guests. Contact me and I'll book you a party quicker than you can say Vive la France!
Birthday blessings...
I'm working on a theory that people close to God know what perfection tastes, smells, looks, and sounds like. My sweet friend Gena, an artist and counsellor, has walked me through shadowy days and sat for hours with me in waiting rooms. On my birthday she brought by a gigantic gift bag full of a collection of presents, each wrapped in a different highly saturated color of tissue paper. The next day I decided to make myself a proper tea with her birthday surprise. It's as if Mary Poppins stepped in to make it for me: A beautiful rich blue tea cup infuser that holds a perfectly generous amount of water, fragrant lavender chamomile tea with vanilla sugar, dark and milk chocolate covered cranberries and raisins, and a chai shortbread. I greedily wanted it to last forever so I topped off the tea with extra water and my cup overflowed. How appropriate.
Charming purse party...
My friends hosted a purse party for my birthday, so I tested out my idea to have guests make purse charms. I think it was a hit. I had an old copper jewelry tree that I spray painted coral that serves as the perfect display for the elements to chose from to make a clip-on charm.
I think everyone enjoyed trying out the different sized base bags and seeing how you can transform them by just changing the covers. Then they chose 3 purse charm elements to combine into a clip and hang from their new bags.
Doing something creative was not only a fun ice breaker, but a nice way for me to incorporate my glass art into my latest venture. Host a Dale Wayne purse party and I'll bring enough bling for your guests to make a purse charm too! June is double hostess rewards. Book today
...or come on by. I have a good selection of samples and you can make and take a purse charm from here!
Mermaid's jewerly...
Here is the gorgeous display The Studio of Duxbury created for my jewelry. I love how it looks like a mermaid's dressing table. I wonder what she'll chose to wear?
My new potato family and email signature ...
Is this a sweet potato family or what? I bought a big box of sweet potatoes at Costco and I don't want to eat them, especially not now. They started sprouting so I put them in some random drinking glasses and a theme emerged. I'm wondering why the dad is yelling. I think it might be because of what his youngest daughter did to her face. Is that a handbag the mom is hiding behind her back?
How do you like my new signature? I met with my upline Miche rep and am so excited. As an art teacher I remember feeling like ET until I went to an art teacher's conference. I had a similar feeling, it's just that the Miche folks are obsessed with PURSES! It brought to mind a time with Natalie was 5 or 6 and I was on a purse shopping binge (before my beloved Miche) and she said "Here, Mommy, here's another purse for your purse collection."
